Betty M. Goodin, 99, of Topeka, passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2017.
She was born on May 24, 1918 in Clay Center, KS to the late Carl and Ethel (White) Christensen. She graduated from Clay Center High School in 1936.
Betty and John owned and operated Goodin Florist and Nursery in Topeka, KS for 28 years and A to Z Rental 10 years. Betty was the Secretary/Treasurer for both entities. You name it and if it needed to be done she was there to assist.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, ABWA, Eastern Star, and Buela Bells. She spent 10 years baking pies on Fridays for the Shriners Foot Bowlers Bingo group. She was a Veteran's wife while John served 2 years in Air Force. Betty and John were members of Family Living for Menninger Foundation for 10 years.
Betty married John Goodin, Jr. on May 27, 1938 in Clay Center, KS. He survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Sue (Mark) Erickson, and Charlotte Pittman, both of Topeka, KS; grandchildren, Tim (Marie) Schuknecht, Troy Louis Schuknecht, and Todd Schuknecht; great-grandchildren, Troy Louis Schuknecht Jr, Hunter Jean Schunecht, and Tyler Michael Schuknecht; as well as one great-great-grandchild, Emma Jean Schuknecht.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a twin brother, Robert Christensen; and a sister, Margaret Christensen-Sloath.
The family will receive friends during a reception from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Friday, September 29, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church, 817 SW Harrison, Topeka.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 29, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery & Funeral Chapel.
