Betty Lou Burbach, 87, Topeka, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2014 at Midland Care Hospice House. She was born on February 2, 1927 in Leavenworth, Kansas, the daughter of Ernest and Marie Angelbeck. She grew up and attended schools in Leavenworth County.
Betty married Douglas Lowell Burbach on June 11, 1950. Two daughters were born to this union, Vicki Tanner (Rod) of Wichita, KS and Sandra Glotzbach (Byron) of Topeka, KS. Also, two grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband after 59 years of marriage.
Betty was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She felt very close to those in the church and thoroughly enjoyed her volunteer work. Betty was a homemaker throughout her marriage. She also babysat for many and took care of rental property that was owned. One of Betty's passions in life was ballroom dancing. Doug and Betty spent many years teaching and enjoying this pastime. In fact, this is how they met, at a dance, many years ago.
Betty also loved her family very much and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 8, 2014 at St. John's Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th, Topeka.
