Betty L. Boaz, 82, Topeka, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2009 at a local care center.
Betty was born February 4, 1927 in Terra Haute, IN the daughter of Kenneth and Gladys (Cordrey) Beasley.
She graduated from Topeka High School in 1945. She worked for the State of Kansas, Department of Motor Vehicles, retiring in 1995.
She married Kenneth Akins, Sr. on January 3, 1948 in Topeka. They later divorced. She married Earl W. Boaz on July 18, 1970. He died May 11, 1993. Survivors include sons, Ken (Ruth) Akins, Topeka, Richard Akins, Enfield, NH, Stanley Akins, Salina; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and a brother, Russell Beasley, Houston, TX. She was preceded in death by sister, June Grable; and brothers, Kenneth E. Beasley, II, and Everett Beasley.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 8, 2009 at West Lawn Memorial Gardens. Betty will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel after 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.
