Betty A. Thornton, 67, of Scranton, passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2013.
Betty was born August 19, 1946, Harvard, Illinois, daughter of Herbert and Margaret (Brim) Stoner.
She married William "Bill" Thornton, Sr. on October 16, 1965.
Betty worked as a cook at Brookside Manor, Overbrook.
She was a member of the Overbrook United Methodist Church. Betty loved playing bingo and her piano.
Betty is survived by her husband, Bill Thornton, Sr., Scranton, four children, Bill (Bobbie) Thornton, Jr., Nevada, Missouri, Donovan (Ruth) Thornton, Overbrook, Spicey (Erich) Henning, Scranton, and Rebecca (Terry) Ralston, Carbondale, eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mary Kuryliw, DeKalb, Illinois.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 28, 2013, at Crossroads Community Church, Scranton.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Osage County Fire District #4, PO Box 182, Overbrook, Kansas, 66524.
Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, Topeka, is assisting the family with arrangements.
