Beth Myers

Beth E. Myers, 70, of Topeka, passed away on Monday, October 3, 2005 due to a car accident near Winslow, Arizona. She was born on October 2, 1935 in Emporia, the daughter of Ira E. and Elsie Davies Nicklin. She graduated from Horton High School in 1953, Highland Junior College in 1955 and Kansas State Teachers College of Emporia in 1957. She resided in Emporia from 1956-1958, Glasco from 1958-1963, Emporia from 1963-1964, Syracuse from 1964-1965 and had lived in Topeka since 1965. Beth was employed as a substitute teacher at Glasco and Syracuse elementary schools, a paraprofessional at Topeka West High School from 1972-1975, Boswell Junior High School from 1975-1976 and as an administrative assistant in the student health center at Washburn University for 21 years before retiring in June of 1997. She was a life long member of the Methodist church, a long time member of the P.E.O. and alumni member of Emporia State University. Beth married Charles Jay Myers on May 27, 1956 in Oskaloosa. He preceded her in death on October 10, 2000. Survivors include one son, William I. Myers of Lawrence, three daughters, Michelle R. Bersbach of Overland Park, Janelle R. Hamilton of Topeka, Paige R. Noss of Olathe, 4 grandchildren , 5 step-grandchildren, 4 step-great-grandchildren and two brothers, David Nicklin of Omaha, NE and Wilfred Nicklin of Topeka. Cremation took place. Private inurnment will take place in Horton City Cemetery. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday at Community Church. Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
