Berniece Merritt Crocker, formerly of 727 S.W. Topeka Blvd., Topeka, Kansas passed away Sunday, February 25, 2007 at Topeka Presbyterian Manor. She was born December 6, 1911 in Blue Township, Pottawatomie County near Manhattan, Kansas.
She graduated from Manhattan High School and also the Sacred Heart Academy Business School in Manhattan.
She married Frank M. Crocker September 5, 1940 in Harrisonville, Missouri. He preceded her in death on January 31, 1968.
Prior to her marriage, she was employed in various State Offices, Namely: - State Motor Vehicle Office, the State Auditor's Office and the State Treasurer's Office in Topeka.
She and her husband were active Real Estate Brokers in Topeka for many years. She was a Member and Elder in the Central Park Christian Church, 1535 Clay, Topeka, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by the following: Her father, Arthur Robert Merritt on January 14, 1944; her mother, Dora Elmira Smith Merritt, on January 3, 1985; a brother, Roland Arthur Merritt, on April 15, 1978; a brother, Danford Alvin Merritt on August 16, 1943; a sister, Mildred M. Holliday on January 13, 2000; and brother Dale C. Merritt on June 8, 2005. Survivors include: Elsie M. Thompson of Manhattan, Kansas; and a sister, Dorothy M. Woods, of Des Moines, IA.
Berniece will lie in state from 12-Noon - 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 27th. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. with a visitation 1/2 hour prior to the service, Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, 10th & Lane, Topeka, Kansas with Pastor Randy Lesseski officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, 4700 SW 17th St., Topeka, Kansas.
Memorials may be made to the Central Park Chrisitian Church in lieu of flowers.
