Bernice L. Schuette, 72, of Topeka, passed away Monday, August 23, 2021.
She was born April 1, 1949, in Holton, Kansas, the daughter of Carl Edwin and Rhoda (Claborn) Johnson. She was a 1967 graduate of Denison High School.
Bernice married Arlie Combs. They were divorced. She married Dale Schuette. They were divorced. Survivors include her daughters, Nicole Baker of Wamego, KS, Rebecca Seibert of Wichita, KS and Rachel (Brad) Atkinson of Houston, TX; seven grandchildren, Kailene (Kane) Case of Prairie Village, KS, Michael Baker, Jr. of Wamego, Bobby Etienne of Kansas City, MO, Landyn Baker of Wamego, Maddy, Ela and Juliette Atkinson, all of Houston and Nevin Seibert of Wichita; two great-grandchildren, Breightyn and Kellin Case of Prairie Village; and her sister, Ferne (Cliff) Walder of Auburn, KS.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother in infancy; and three sisters, Bertha Zelfer, Carlyn Kaiser and Mary Lou Miller.
Bernice loved her family, friends and life. She enjoyed bowling and softball, serving on leagues in Topeka. She also participated in the Senior Olympics for several years.
A funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, August 28, 2021at the Penwell-Gabel Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka. Cremation will follow the service.
The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
Private family inurnment will be at Wamego Cemetery, Wamego, Kansas.
