Bernice E. (Rush) Myers, 90, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, September 28, 2012, at Stormont-Vail Hospital, surrounded by her family.
She was born on April 17, 1922 in Eskridge, KS, the youngest daughter of David & Ellen (Carlson) Rush.
Bernice graduate of Alma High School in 1940.
She taught for six years as a teacher in a one-room school house. During WWII she worked as an original Rosie the Riveter at a K.C. airplane plant, and later retired from Kansas Neurological Institute as a nurse's aide after 27 years of service.
Bernice married Harold A. Myers on December 22, 1945, he precedes her in death.
Survivors include four children, Linda Hust, Charlene Summers, Donna Shinn and Susan Willms; seven grandchildren, Jason Myers, Sonja Willms, Billie Jo Webb, Zach Hust, Chris Hust, Jake Summers and Nick Summers; and four great grandchildren, Julia Webb, Evan Willms, Jenna Webb, and Sophia Hust.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her son, William G. Myers; her grandsons, Michael & Justin Shinn; sisters, Edna Wilson and Helen Leonard; brothers, Floyd Rush and Harlan Rush.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., on Wednesday, October 3 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka. Graveside services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, October 4, 2012, at the Eskridge Cemetery, Eskridge, KS.
