Bernice L. Luttrell, 87, of Topeka,passed away Monday, November 22, 2004 surrrounded by her loving family.
She was born November 4, 1917 in Topeka, the daughter of John and Theresa(Holtgraver) Polley
and graduated from Topeka High School. For over fifty years, she and her husband Walter owned and operated Luttrell Fine Foods. Around town she was known as the "Coconut Cream Pie Queen." She was a fifty-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Topeka Chapter #462; V.F.W. Auxiliary # 1650; the American Legion Auxiliary and Women of the Moose # 1091.
She was preceded in death by her husband Walter and granddaughter Debbie.
Immediate survivors include: son Donald (Judy) Luttrell, granddaughter Kelly (Mark) Payne, sister Ruth Graves, brother Ray (Jolene) Polley, and great grandson, Kai Palama.
Mrs. Luttrell will lie in state after 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 26, 2004 at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6- 7:00 p.m.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 27,2004 at the funeral home with burial to follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the caring staff at St. Francis Health Center.
