Benjamin "Ben" Emery Jr., 87, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2011.
He was born July 18, 1924 in Topeka, the son of Benjamin Sr., and Bessie (Warner) Emery.
Ben was a graduate of Highland Park High School.
Mr. Emery retired from Goodyear after 35 years of service. He also farmed most of his life.
He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Topeka, where he served as a deacon, trustee, youth minister, as well as Sunday school superintendent.
Ben married Bettie Meggison on September 9, 1944, she survives. Other survivors include three children, Gary (Molly) Emery, and their children, Tracy (Mike) Henshaw, Rebecca (Raymon) Foreman, and Elizabeth (Dannie) Stacey;
Ron Emery, and his children, Shawn (Jennifer) Emery and Angel Emery;
and Janelle Barnes, and her son Joshua Barnes; thirteen great-grandchildren; three great- great grandchildren; two sisters, Jean Greene, and Dorothy Wilson.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Emery; and three sisters, Catherine Traxler, Ruth Rowe, and Joyce Crawford.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 17, 2011, at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka.
