Benjamin Domingues, 69, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at Presbyterian Manor.
Ben was born March 1, 1937 in Clayton, NM, the son of John and Julia Domingues. He grew up and attended school in Meriden, KS. After graduation he served as an Airborne Radio Operator in the U.S. Navy.
He married Carol Pitts on August 6, 1965 in Topeka, KS.
He retired from Goodyear after 25 years of service.
Ben was an avid golfer, sportsman, and billiards enthusiast. He received a heart transplant in 1991. In 1993, he was a golf participant and placed in the Transplant Olympic Games in Vancouver, B.C.
Survivors include his wife, Carol, son, Dave Domingues and wife, MiLana, daughter, Keri Schumacher and husband, Michael, son, Greg Domingues, grandchildren, Tyler and Trent Domingues and Sara Schumacher, six sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Gary Domingues, his mother and father and four brothers.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 5, 2007 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel with burial to follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. His family will receive friends and family from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
