Benjamin "Ben" Arthur Bahner, 87, of Emporia, KS, passed away on February 4, 2012, at Presbyterian Manor Assisted Living Apartment complex. Ben was born July 27, 1924, in Wamego, KS, to Joseph Bahner and Amanda Buchmeier Bahner. He served in the United States Army and married Marilyn Ilene Senne in 1948. She survives and they enjoyed 63 years of life together.
He was employed by Federal Home Loan Bank in Topeka for 30 years. After taking an early retirement, he purchased and managed Oakland Hardware Store in Topeka until 1991. He was a long-time member of Faith Lutheran Church in Topeka.
Other survivors include daughter, Beverly Kerbs (husband Stan) of Emporia, KS; three grandchildren, Lacey Kerbs, of Wichita, KS, Dustin Kerbs, of Lawrence, KS, and Benjamin Kerbs, of Emporia, KS; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Pamela Bahner; brothers, Lester Bahner, Raymond Bahner, Carl Bahner, Howard Bahner, and Alfred Bahner; and sisters, Alice Bahner and Josephine Bahner.
Private graveside services will be held at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery & Mausoleum in Topeka, KS. A memorial service will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, 1716 SW Gage Blvd., Topeka, KS, on Thursday, February 9, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hand In Hand Hospice, 1201 W. 12th Ave., Emporia, KS 66801.
