Beatrice Maurine Schwartz, 87, Topeka passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, August 1, 2005.

Beatrice was born May 19, 1918 in Alfalfa County, OK, the daughter of Elton James and Pearl Maude Wyscaver Murphy. She was the youngest of 5 children.

She married Leslie Schwartz on June 6, 1938 in Enid, OK. They farmed in North Central Oklahoma until retirement in 1978 when they moved to Topeka. Leslie preceded her in death in 1990.

Beatrice enjoyed sewing, spending time with her family and the companionship of her dog, Susie.

Survivors include a son, Richard Schwartz and his wife, Connie, of Topeka, two grand daughters; Stacey Meier and her husband, Chris, Topeka and Shannon Gregg and her husband, Kevin, Mayetta; and two great grandsons, Hunter Meier and Dylan Gregg along with several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 4, 2005 at the Crestview United Methodist Church. Beatrice will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel after 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday and visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:30 PM.

A visitation will be held on Thursday evening at the Lanman Funeral Home in Kiowa from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery in Kiowa on Friday at 11:00 A.M.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library, 1515 SW 10th, Topeka, Kansas 66604 or Heartland Hospice, 1033 SW Gage, Topeka, Kansas 66604.
