B. C. Schutter, 89, of Cameron, MO, formerly of Topeka, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2017.
He was born September 30, 1927 in Topeka, Kansas the son of Roy and Edna (Connell) Schutter.
He was a merchant marine and employed by Santa Fe Railroad for 40 years, retiring September 1, 1987.
He was a proud member of the American Legion and the National Rifle Association.
B.C. married Dorothy Clay on August 25, 1952 in Arkansas. She preceded him in death on May 7, 1997. B.C. was preceded in death by his parents, sister Doretta Nudson, brother Leroy Schutter, and daughter Donna Tinley. Surviving siblings include sisters Joyce Andressen of Blue Springs and Eloise Haybarker of Topeka, KS. Surviving children include Joan Reed of Norman, OK and Cheri Roberts of Kansas City, MO. B.C. loved spending time with his 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 9 great, great grandchildren.
B.C. enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, collecting photos, gardening, drinking a beer with family and friends, and spending time with his grandchildren. His proudest accomplishment was his family and his greatest love was Dorothy.
A funeral ceremony will be 10 a.m., Monday, January 9, 2017 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka.
B.C. will lie in state after 1 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 3-4 p.m.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m., Monday at the Eskridge Cemetery, Eskridge, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1315 SW Arrowhead Rd, Topeka, KS 66604.
