Barbara Ann Peters, 82, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2019.
She was born May 4, 1937, in Hugoton, Kansas, the daughter of Grant and Flossie (Dwyer) Burditt. She graduated from Hugoton High School in 1955. She later attended Western Union Business School in Omaha, Nebraska.
Barbara was a very social and active woman. She knew no strangers and was loved by everybody that came across her path. She was active in her Paint Group and her Craft Group, which turned into her Coffee groups. She loved to Sew, stamp art, do bead work, needlepoint and cross-stitch. Her beloved cat Teacup was her faithful companion for the past 5 years, which her name came from Barbara love of Tea and collecting Teacups. Barbara also loved little children and since most of her Grandchildren were out of town She would sub in from time to time at her Daughter-in laws Home Daycare. Since her Husband's passing in 1993 she was very active in all walks of life.
Barbara was active in the St. Mathews parrish and was on the Funeral Dinner committee, and was well known for her (what her children nicknamed) Funeral Potatoes.
Barbara married Glen A. Peters on November 9, 1957 in Hugoton, KS. He preceded her in death on April 13, 1993. Survivors include children, Debbie Ozuna, Dinah (George) Williams, Pam Peters, Cheryl (Scott) Slyter and Grant (Rachel) Peters; sister, Lynda Lee (Mick) Prine; grandchildren, Melissa Ozuna, Adrian (Tina) Williams, Christopher Williams, Stephanie Williams, Amber Slyter, Hayley Slyter, Katherine Slyter, Nathan Peters (Jayden Price), Carson Christian, and Kaylee Christian; great-grandchildren, Brianna Beaver, Erica Beaver, Bradley Beaver and Jenyssa Lopez and expecting first great-great grandchild in December. Sister and Brother-inlaw Ruth and Roy Singleton of Omaha Neb, Sister-inlaw Rita Zieler of Atlanta Ga. and 25 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Louise Rock and infant brother, Larry Dean Burditt and Brother and Sister-inlaw Leo and Sue Peters, Brother-inlaw Van Zieler.
A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, September 27, 2019 at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka. The family will greet friends from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 28, 2019 at the St. Matthew Catholic Church, 2700 SE Virginia, Topeka. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Topeka.
