Barbara J. Becker

Barbara J. Becker, 83, Ottawa, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka.

Barbara was born July 30, 1926 in Topeka, the daughter of Archie M. and Requa R. (Rinner) Maze. She graduated from Topeka High School and attended Washburn University.

She worked as a bookkeeper for the State of Kansas and the University of Kansas in the Spencer Museum of Art, retiring in 1991. She later worked as a substitute teacher for the Pomona School District

She was a member of the Richter United Methodist Church and actively involved in Share & Care and Eastern Star in Pomona, and Republican Women in Ottawa.

Barbara married Franklin Becker on August 3, 1946. He died in 1997. Survivors include sons, Robert "Bob" Becker, Ottawa, Bradley Becker, Maui, HI; daughter, Ann Marshall, Topeka; foster daughter, Jan Rowen, Bayside, CA: eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; brother, Robert Maze, California; and sister, Carrie Daves, Mansfield, TX. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy Bain, Helen Schreiner, Marie Lohr, and Elizabeth Collins.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00am on January 13 at the Richter United Methodist Church. Private family inurnment will be at a later date.
