Barbara Frisbie Merriam, 84, of Topeka, passed away Friday, August 5, 2011.
She was born February 27, 1927 in Trenton, NJ, the daughter of Clo L. and Euna Mae (Hollomon) Criger.
She was a member of Shawnee Country Club, The Women's Club and was an avid bridge player and enjoyed golf.
Barbara married J. David Frisbie on May 23, 1954 in Kansas City, MO. He preceded her in death on October 3, 1986. She married John Merriam on June 12, 1993 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on December 20, 2000. Survivors include two daughters, Susie (Scott) Coleman, Topeka, Elaine (Errol Williams) Frisbie, Topeka; a son, Scott Frisbie, San Francisco, CA; two grandchildren, Taylor and Lauren Coleman; a sister, Betty Wallace, Bosier City, LA. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Bob Criger
Funeral ceremonies will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka. Interment will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, Topeka. Mrs. Merriam will lie in state after 3 p.m., Monday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Barbara Frisbie Merriam Scholarship Fund, in care of Capitol Federal Savings, 700 S. Kansas, Topeka, KS 66603.
