Barbara Christine Edmonds, 66, of Topeka, passed away Monday, April 13, 2020.
She was born December 29, 1953, in Waltham, Massachusetts, the daughter of Charles Peter and Jean Marie (McDonald) Jones. She was a 1972 graduate of Quincy High School in Quincy, MA; and received a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1976.
Barbara was Menninger Foundation, Santa Fe Memorial Hospital, St. Francis Hospital and most recently for USD 501 School District as a Registered Nurse, retiring in May of 2020.
Barbara married Jeffrey R. Edmonds on November 6, 1982 in Topeka, Kansas. He survives in Topeka. Other survivors include seven children, Jennifer Grammer, Topeka, Dennis (Lora) Hofstetter, Thornton, CO, James (Scott Criqui) Edmonds, Lawrence, KS, Michael (Katya Kolesova) Edmonds, Seattle, WA, Kevin Edmonds, Topeka, Patrick (Emma Graves) Edmonds, Kansas City, MO and Julie (Cameron Schwanke) Edmonds, Kansas City, MO; five grandchildren, Aiden and Brady Grammer, Kendal and Olivia Hofstetter and Nikolai; and her sister, Charlene Marie Jones of Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Barbara enjoyed spending time with family, baking, cooking and volunteering.
Honoring her request, cremation is planned. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 17, 2021 at the Penwell-Gabel Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 1321 SW 10th Ave. Topeka, Kansas. A celebration of Barbara's life will be at Lake Shawnee in Topeka at a later date.
