Barbara K. Clark, 80 of Meriden, KS was called home to the Lord on December 15, 2018.

Barbara was born on June 1, 1938 in Topeka, KS the daughter of William E. And Lola B. (Smith) Hodges.

Barbara graduated from Topeka High School in 1956 and began her nursing education at Stormont Vail School of Nursing. She went on to graduate from Washburn University with a bachelor's degree in biology in 1969, followed by a Masters of Nursing from Kansas University in 1982. She received her PhD from Kansas State University in 1998. She worked as an RN at both Stormont Vail and St. Francis hospitals. Barbara was a member of Sigma Theta Tau, Phi Kappa Phi, the American Nurses Association and and held offices in the Kansas State Nurses Association As an instructor at Stormont Vail School of Nursing, she shared her nursing skills and medical knowledge with her students. She continued teaching as a professor at Washburn University, where she retired as Associate Dean of the School of Nursing.

Barbara married G. Norman Clark on July 30, 1961 at Lowman United Methodist Church. They raised two children; daughter Tamara and son David. Throughout their marriage, Barbara and Norman enjoyed many activities including gardening and house design. They spent 30 years enjoying the water as members of Perry Yacht Club. She was an avid KU basketball fan, in part because her father was coached by Phog Allen. She collected an extensive database of family genealogy history and was a member of the Topeka Genealogical Society. One of her biggest joys was traveling to the mountains of Colorado where the family spent many wonderful summer vacations. Barbara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who adored her family and shared her love, abilities and talents with each of them.

She is survived by her husband, Norman; daughter Tamara (Tim) Barney; son, David Clark; grandsons, Jordan (Morgan) Barney, Brett Barney; brother Reverend Ron (Pat) Hodges and much extended family.

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday, December 21, 2018 at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave. Topeka, KS 66604. A celebration of life will be 10:00 am December 22, 2018 at the Mid-Town Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that memorial contributions be made to Washburn University Foundation, 1729 SW MacVicar Avenue, Topeka, KS 66604 and designated for the Barbara K. Clark Memorial fund to benefit the Washburn School of Nursing.
