Barbara Boyd

Barbara Lou Boyd, 70, Topeka, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2006 at a local care center.

Barbara was born August 20, 1935 in Jetmore, the daughter of James Raymond and Juanita Marie Northcraft Armstrong.

She graduated from Topeka High School. Barbara was employed by the Sears Credit Department, the Sewmore Sewing Company as a bookkeeper and was a pre-school teacher with Topeka Parks & Recreation.

Barbara married Gary N. Boyd on December 8, 1953. They recently celebrated their 52nd anniversary. He survives. Other survivors include two sons; Steven Boyd and wife, Sandra, and Douglas Boyd, all of Topeka, two grandchildren; Heather Layton, Olathe, and Ryan Boyd, Topeka, and one great grandson; Alec Boyd, and one brother; Ray Armstrong, Topeka.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 16, 2006 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel's Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Boyd will lie in state at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m. today.
