Avis Joy Culp, 84, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2011.
She was born March 25, 1927, in Eau Claire, WI, the daughter of Boyd L. and Libby (Hanson) Harshman.
Mrs. Culp was a graduate of Olivet Nazarene University, Bourbonnais, IL. After college she was a homemaker and taught piano for over 25 years.
She was a long time member of Topeka First Church of the Nazarene.
Avis married Raymond H. Culp on June 16, 1951 in Wisconsin, He survives. Other survivors include five sons, Boyd H. (Linda) Culp, Charles H. Culp, David H. (Gail) Culp, Reginald R. Culp, and Steven H. (Analicia) Culp; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild; and a sister, Joan (Robert) Leroy.
She was a dedicated wife, a loving mother, and always placed her family above herself. Avis was an accomplished pianist and had a passion for music. Her talents were God given and she used her skills to serve the Lord at her church.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 2, 2011 at First Church of the Nazarene, 1001 Southwest Buchanan Street, Topeka, KS 66604. Inurnment will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, Topeka. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to First Church of the Nazarene Memorial Fund.
