Ava Jo Beard, 52, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, Dec 19, 2009.
She was born on Jan 25, 1957 in Checotah, Oklahoma to Olbra Chandler and Wanda Faye Chandler.
She is a founding member of the Obama Holiday Committee and the Kansas Committee to free South Africa.
She is survived by her Sister, Gwendolyn Sue Chandler; Brothers, Kevin Roy Chandler, Sr. and Charles Eugene Chandler; Nephew, Kevin Chandler, Jr.; Nieces, Tameka (Carlos) Lopez; Shanelle Chandler; Charmaine Chandler and Danesha Chandler all of Topeka.
She will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday with services at 11:00am in the chapel. Burial will follow at the Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Midland Hospice Care, 200 SW Frazier Cr., Topeka 66606.
