Austin Heath Lorson, 33, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2023.
He was born October 1, 1989, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Joseph and Kayla (Schonlaw) Lorson. He graduated from Topeka West High School and attended classes at Washburn University.
During high school, Austin was on the wrestling team and competed at the state level. He was an avid sports lover and enjoyed watching UFC, supporting the Tennessee Titans and the KC Royals. In his spare time, you could find Austin cooking, playing video games, and hanging out with his friends and family.
When he was younger, he enjoyed visiting the family farm, some even referred to this period as his childhood "cowboy phase" and could be seen later in life from his love of Yellowstone. In his youth, he also took up snowboarding and enjoyed the slopes with his grandfather and other family members. He participated in his high school debate team and built furniture in woodworking classes. Austin also loved helping his dad complete home improvement projects.
Austin loved to laugh, he had a charismatic and genuine personality. He deeply cared for his friends and family. He would walk into any room, filling it with warmth from his cheerful smile.
He will be remembered as a kind person who would easily befriend anyone.
He leaves behind his mother, Kayla Schonlaw- Lorson; his siblings, Kevin Lorson, Sophie Lorson, and Stevianna Lorson and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Terry and Dixie Schonlaw, and paternal grandparents, Thomas and Anita Lorson.
His father Joseph John Lorson passed away 3 days following Austin.
A celebration of Austin's life will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2023 from 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka, KS 66604. A blessing and memories will be shared at 4:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice.
