Augustine Villegas, Sr.

Augustine Villegas, Sr., 84, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2025.

He was born April 5, 1940, in Topeka, Kansas, the Guadalupe and Maria (Cruz) Villegas. 

Augustine worked for the Department of Transportation for over 34 years. He loved telling stories about his time working and the experience he gained throughout the years. 

He was a member of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. 

Augustine was a proud supporter of the Chiefs and the Kansas Jayhawks. He loved listening to Spanish music and eating good food. He will be remembered as an easy-going family man that cherished time he was able to spend with his two sons and grandchildren. 

Survivors include his two sons, Michael (Sandy) Villegas and Augustine (Lois) Villegas, Jr.; his granddaughter, Melissa (Christopher) Villegas-Burns and one great-grandchild, Mila Burns. He was preceded in death by his parents. 

A rosary will be recited 10:00 am., Friday, February 14, 2025 at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka, KS 66604. A visitation will follow the rosary until 11:30am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30am. He will be laid to rest at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Topeka, KS. Memorial contributions can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project P.O.
