August Nunzio "Nunie" DeMarea, 81, Topeka, passed away on Thursday, November 04, 2010 at a local hospital.
Nunie was born July 10, 1929 in Kansas City, MO, the son of August and Mamie (Burns) DeMarea. He graduated from Paseo High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps, receiving a Victory Medal in WWII and a Purple Heart in the Korean War.
He worked for Dunn & Bradstreet, Ken's Mobil Oil and Brown's Super Service as a wrecker driver/mechanic and later for Laird Noller Ford as a courtesy driver, retiring in 1992.
He was an active member of Central Congregational Church, serving in many capacities.
Nunie married Bette Lou Faulkner in 1959. They later divorced. He married Shirley Green in 1981. She died October 21, 1992. Survivors include daughters, Marsha Copeland, Topeka, Leslie (Greg) Hunsicker, Berryton, Kimberly (Val) Finney, Ottawa; grandchildren, Joele and Karlie Copeland, Brit and Aimee Hunsicker, and Patrick Holloway.
Memorial services will be held at 11:30am on Sunday, November 14, 2010 at Central Congregational Church. Private family inurnment will be at a later date.
