Audrey Marie (Gustafson) McGivern, of Topeka, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2025, at the age of 54 surrounded by her family. Born on February 6, 1971, the daughter of Carl and Elsie (Ploger) Gustafson. Audrey was a beacon of warmth and love, known for her selfless spirit and unwavering devotion to her family and friends.
As a property manager, Audrey dedicated many years to her profession, yet it was her personal life that truly illuminated her character. She was the ultimate mom to her three beautiful children, Henri, Julian, and Elise, who were the pride and joy of her life. Audrey's unwavering support shone through as she embraced her roles as a wrestling mom, football mom, and cheer mom, always cheering the loudest from the sidelines. Audrey found joy in helping with her children's school projects through the years.
Audrey's personality was one that reflected the deepest empathy; she had the biggest heart and a true servant's spirit. Never one to put herself first, she spent her days surrounding herself with love, patience, and kindness towards everyone she met. Her remarkable resilience and dedication remained evident until the end, as she touched the lives of those around her.
Family meant everything to Audrey. She is survived by her loving husband, Greg Steven McGivern, who stood beside her through thick and thin. Her sisters—Andrea (David) Kemp, Sheila (Derrick) Duncan, and Carie (Kevin) Mefford—stood as a testament to her cherished close-knit family bond. Audrey also leaves behind beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts. Special thanks are extended to her dear friends, including Therese Peterson, who offered unwavering support.
As we reflect on Audrey's life, we remember her deep passion for cooking, her love of grilling, and her joy in visiting the ocean and any body of water. The yearly trips to Table Rock Lake were highlights of her summer, where memories were made and laughter filled the air. Audrey found delight in her garden, nurturing yellow flowers that reflected the brightness of her spirit. Her evening ritual would include an ice cold Coors Light.
Audrey will be lovingly remembered, not only for her accomplishments but for the essence of her being. She profoundly impacted everyone around her and will forever remain in our hearts.
In her journey through life, she mournfully leaves behind her father, Carl Gustafson, and friend, Larry Peterson, who have preceded her in death.
A visitation will be held at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home in Topeka on March 24, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The following day, a rosary will take place at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church at 10:00 AM, leading into a Mass at 10:30 AM. Audrey will be laid to rest following a graveside service at Mt.
