Audrey Cook

Audrey Cook, 88, Topeka, passed away May 8, 2012, at Aldersgate Village. Audrey was born May 29, 1923, in Baltimore, MD, the daughter of Raymond and Ruth Bauernschmidt. She attended schools in Baltimore, receiving her bachelor's degree and master's in social work. She worked her entire life as a social worker, ending her career at Aldersgate Village in the health unit and assisted living. Audrey married Keith Cook on May 4, 1974, in Connecticut. He preceded her in death on January 1, 1990.

Audrey is survived by step-grandson, Jayson (Amanda) Cook and many cousins and friends. Audrey will be dearly missed by her long-time friends and caregivers, Karen and Kyle Sommer, of Topeka. Audrey was a special person and touched the lives of everyone who knew her and will forever live in our hearts.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 17, 2012, at University United Methodist Church, 1621 SW College Avenue, Topeka, KS 66604. Private inurnment will be at West Lawn Memorial Gardens in Topeka. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to University United Methodist Church or The Good Samaritan Fund at Aldersgate Village in memory of Audrey.
