Aubrey Linford (Linn) Woolsey, 89, of Topeka passed away Monday, January 26, 2009 at Brewster Place Retirement Center. He was born May 10, 1919 in Linn Creek, MO, the son of Abb G. Woolsey and A. Floy Sweat Woolsey.
Mr. Woolsey was raised in Atchison, Donovan and Brown counties and graduated from Everest High School in 1939. He served in the Army Infantry during World War II and was stationed in the Aleutian Islands, Dutch Harbor for twenty months. He married Norma Ulsh in Hiawatha, Kansas on July 28, 1951.
Mr. Woolsey was employed by the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company as a laboratory technician for thirty-two years retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church for over thirty-nine years, a member the Hiawatha Post of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars, Topeka Capitol Post #1 of the American Legion, the Hoyt Masonic Lodge #555, the Scottish Rite and the International Order of the Odd Fellows.
Survivors include his wife Norma; two daughters, Norma Zoe Scrivner, Arlington, TX, Dee Ann Younger, Little Rock, AR; two sons, Rick L. Woolsey, Olathe, KS, Dean A. Woolsey, Topeka; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mildred C. Mathena, Topeka, KS.
Mr. Woolsey was cremated. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 29, 2009 at Brewster Place Retirement Community Chapel, 1001 SW 29th Street, Topeka. Private family inurnment will follow with military honors at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery.
