Athena Rose Baatrup, 19, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2022.
She was born June 8, 2003, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Michael Jessup and Laura Baatrup. She graduated in May 2022 from Shawnee Heights High School.
Every day was a party for Athena. She absolutely loved music. You would always catch Athena dancing, so much in fact, she had broken three wheelchairs doing so. Taylor Swift and Katy Perry were some of her favorite artists to listen to.
In her younger years she was very flexible. Flexible so much, that she was able to put her foot behind her head. She would also crawl absolutely everywhere and she wouldn't mind putting everyone to shame in a crawling race down the hall.
We you think of Athena you think of pure happiness. She was fun to be around. She enjoyed being around her friends at school and hanging with her family and doxy dog, Roxie.
If you knew Athena, then you knew all about her one finger waves that would turn into other fingers waving at you. You also knew that she had a love for straws and if you weren't careful enough, she would steal it directly from your drink.
Athena's favorite color was pink and one of her favorite things to do was pestering her mother. Whether that was hitting her with pool noodles on their 'bye bye' trips or throwing her toys when the opportunity arose.
Her squeeze with her left arm, orneriness and her sense of pure joy will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Athena leaves behind her mother, Laura Baatrup; father, Michael (Larryssa) Jessup; sisters, Lilly and Alyssa Jessup; aunt, Chrisite (Dan) White; uncle, Edmund (Amber) Baatrup; paternal grandma, Cynthia Jessup and numerous cousins and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Nels Sr., and Pauline Baatrup and her aunts and uncles, Janine (Don) Paige, Yuvon (Carl) Breaden, and Nels Jr (Connie) Baatrup.
A Celebration of her Life will be from 11:00 a.m. until the party ends on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Dan & Christie's House (1811 SW 37th Street Topeka, KS 66611). Please note that there is plenty of parking.
