Arthur A. Curtis, 95, Topeka, passed away Friday, January 25, 2013 at Midland Hospice House.
Arthur was born February 13, 1917 in Kendallville, IA, the son of Linus A. and Lily (Moore) Curtis. He graduated from Seaman High School in 1936 and attended the University of Kansas and Palmer's Secretarial School in Manhattan.
Arthur married Gale Mildred Brunkow on December 12, 1942 in Topeka. She died February 9, 2012. Survivors include sons, Charles "Chuck" Curtis, and fiancé, Cinda Kunkler, Topeka, Dale Curtis and wife, Alicia, Topeka, James "Jim" Curtis and wife, Lynne, Cassville, MO; two step-granddaughters; and five step great-grandchildren.
He served in the Army National Guard and his unit was activated during World War II serving from 1940 to 1945. He continued serving in the National Guard, retiring in 1977 with the rank of Major.
He worked as a Court Reporter for the State of Kansas before he and a partner went into business for themselves. When he retired he and Gale built a house and retired to Table Rock Lake around 1980.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the American Legion.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00PM on Wednesday, January 30 in the Fink Living Room at Brewster Place Health Care Center. Private family inurnment will be in Leavenworth National Cemetery.
