Arnold Paul Silverman Obituary
Tuesday September 6th 2005 Topeka, Kansas
Arnold Paul Silverman passed away quietly and without pain this morning at 10:30 AM after several bouts of pneumonia at Plaza West Regional Medical Center in Topeka Kansas. Arnold was born November 1911 to Jacob and Dora Silverman in Roxbury Massachusetts. He attended Devotion School in Brookline. He was graduated from Brookline High School in 1929. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Harvard University in 1933. He went on to Boston University where he received his Juris Doctor in 1935.
He was preceded in death by his wife Estelle (Furst) Silverman in February of 2003. He is survived by his brother Eliot Silverman of Melville New York; his sons Andrew J. Silverman of Pennsylvania, and Jeffrey Silverman of Kansas. He also has 4 grandchildren.
Arnold served in World War 11 in the Philippines in the 598th Company Signal Air Warning Battalion. He was discharged in May 1946.

He loved going out on calls to either private collectors or organizations looking to sell their libraries. He was always looking for those special books. He treated those books as though they were his own. He had his own serious collection of Western Americana which he babied like his children.
He was a former President of the Antiquarian American Booksellers Association and was recognized as one of the best authorities on rare books in the United States. He was most at ease with his fellow rare book cronies. It can honestly be said about Arnold that
