Arnold John Willms

Arnold John Willms, 84, Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at Midland Hospice. He was born on March 3, 1929 in Amber, Iowa to Engwert E. and Engel J. (Monk) Willms.

In 1947, Arnie graduated from Anamosa High School in Anamosa, Iowa. He then received his bachelor's degree from the University of Northern Iowa in 1950. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War.

Arnie was a traffic manager and customer service representative for Adams Business Forms where he retired after 43 years of employment. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church where he was very active in the church choir.

On January 19, 1985 Arnie married Marilyn K. Cridlebaugh at Gage Park Baptist Church. She survives. Other survivors include his children, Ronnie (Kim) Willms, Smyrna, TN; Steve (Eva) Willms, Valley Center, KS; Pam (Tom) Willms-Giesler, Alma, KS; Steven Cridlebaugh, Des Moines, IA and Scott (Kathy) Cridlebaugh, Birch Tree, Mo; two sisters, Florence Cook and Juanita (Jack) Christiansen-Stephenson, all of Rapid City, SD; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 am Monday, September 16 at St. John's Lutheran Church. Burial with military honors will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 6-8 pm at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel.
