Aretha Koppenhaver

Aretha "Kay" Koppenhaver, 82, of Topeka, passed away, Tuesday, October 8, 2002 at a Topeka hospital.

She was born December 18, 1919 at Waverly, Kansas the daughter of Fred and Aretha (Fann) Simmons. She has resided in Topeka since 1960.

Mrs. Koppenhaver was employed as a bookeeper for the Postal Savings Association 22 years. She retired in 1983.

Mrs. Koppenhaver was a member of First Baptist Church.

She married Garrett Neil Koppenhaver June 5, 1942 at Burlington, Kansas. He preceded her in death July 27, 2001. Survivors include:

Ronald K. Koppenhaver Chicago, IL
three brothers,Earle Simmons Lawrence, KS
Ellis Simmons Lincoln, NE
James Simmons Camarillo, CA
four sisters, Ina Merle Williams Waverly, KS
Ava Marie Prochaska Dunlap, KS
Ora Aileen Wagaman Topeka, KS
Elinor Kinder Branson, MO
six grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

Cremation is planned. Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 12, 2002 at the First Baptist Church, Topeka. Private family inurnment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to First Baptist Church, 3033 SW MacVicar Avenue, Topeka, KS 66611. Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
