Ardith Elaine Wenke

Ardith Elaine Wenke died Wednesday, March 25, 2009, in Topeka, Kansas. She was born Dec. 11th, 1930 in Hamilton, IL, the daughter of Lawrence Burns Bolton and Beulah Estella (Kellogg) Bolton. She was a 1948 Graduate of Hamilton High School.

She married John Arthur Wenke of Fort Madison, IA on May 30th 1953.

Mrs. Wenke worked for the Sheaffer Pen Co. before moving to Topeka in 1953. She was a Homemaker, volunteered many years at St. Matthew School, and started a central library at the school. She volunteered seven years at A.J. Stout School. She sold Avon, worked at J. C. Penneys, the Needle Nest, and Ardan's Jewelry.

She enjoyed sewing, quilting, needlepoint and embroidering. She also enjoyed travel, genealogy, flower gardening, and fishing.

Survivors include husband John, son, Corwyn (Linda), daughters, Carolyn Joanne Spritzer, and Robin Elaine Smith (Mark) of Crofton, MD, grandchildren, David Alan Spritzer (Leesa) of Sayreville, NJ, Patrick Ryan Wenke (Sara), and Jamie Lyn Wenke all of Lawrence, KS, Matthew Marshall Smith and Andrew John Smith of Crofton, MD, and one great-grandson Sean Spritzer of Sayreville, NJ. One sister, Euvon Blanche Radel (John) of Nauvoo, IL, and numerous nieces, nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Russell Burns Bolton of Tinley Park, IL, Floyd Dale Bolton of Hamilton, IL, Larry Allan Bolton of Channahon, IL, and sisters Freda Mae Buckert and Glenda Marie Reneau, both of Hamilton, IL.

Services for Mrs. Wenke: Rosary at Penwell Gabel Mid-Town Chapel at 6:00 pm Friday March 27, 2009 with visitation to follow from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Matthew Catholic Church on Saturday March 28, 2009 at 10:30 am. Father Jerry Volz will be officiating. Burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Memorial contributions of donor's choice: American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Foundation.
