Arden K. Ensley, 79, of Topeka, passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2007 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. Arden was born on September 25, 1927 in Tulsa, OK, the son of Daniel D. and Sarah Henderson Ensley. He graduated from public schools in Southeast Kansas. Arden obtained a BS Degree from Kansas State University in 1951 and graduated from Washburn University Law School with a LLB in 1954. He had resided in Topeka since 1951. He was employed as a staff attorney for the League of Kansas Municipalities and as an attorney by the State of Kansas where he was the Revisor of Statutes. Arden was an Army veteran. He was a member of Philip Billard Post No. 1650, V.F.W., Capitol Post No. 1 of the American Legion, the Kansas Bar Association, the Topeka Bar Association and the First Christian Church. Arden married Rita Knisel on October 2, 1954 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Charna and husband, Bruce Williams and their son, Justin of Lyndon; son, Jeff and his wife, Lillian and their two sons, Ethan and Ian of Kansas City, KS; and son, J.D. and his wife, Yarlenis and their son, Xavier of Topeka; and his daughter-in-law, Elizabeth and her son, Dan and daughter, Jessica of Topeka; one sister, Elinor Hays of Pittsburg, KS. Arden was preceded in death by his eldest son, John D. Ensley in 1999. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Mount Hope Cemetery. Arden will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. The casket will remain closed. Memorial contributions may be given to the organization of the donor's choice.
