Anna Wright

Anna B. Wright, 83, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at her home.

She was born September 8, 1925 in Burlington, IA, the daughter of Charles H. and Ruth E. (Bovell) Beebe. She attended Burlington High School and Junior College. She served as a Cadet Nurse during WW II. She graduated from the University of Iowa's School of Nursing in 1947. Anna was employed as a Registered Nurse at Memorial Hospital in Topeka, receiving the Employee of the Year Award in 1982. She retired in 1984. She was also biographed in "Who's Who of American Women" and in "Who's Who in the Midwest." Anna was a member of the Potwin Presbyterian Church, Topeka.

Anna married Donald C. Wright on July 28, 1946 in Wever, IA. He survives. Other survivors include her daughter, Jacalyn Wright Weissenburger of Eau Claire, WI; her son, Bradley Carlyle Wright of Clarendon Hills, IL; and four grandchildren, Kurtis Weissenburger, Derek Weissenburger, Leslie Wright, and Tyler Wright. She was preceded in death by her parents, four siblings, and a granddaughter, Sarah Wright.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m., Saturday, January 24, 2009 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Gardens, Topeka. Mrs. Wright will lie in state after 3 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Anna B.
