Anita L. Smith, 80, Topeka, passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at Midland Hospice House.
Anita was born November 12, 1930 in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Henry and Clara (Alexander) Deitcher. She grew up in Ottawa and graduated from Ottawa High School and attended Ottawa University where she received her teaching certificate.
She taught at Latimer School, worked as a Medical Transcriptionist at several military installations and retired from Dr. W. Dan Weaver's office in 1995.
She had been a member of East Side Baptist Church and currently was a member of First Southern Baptist Church.
Anita married Donald Neil Webster in 1950. He was killed in the Korean War. She married R.B. Smith in 1955. He died in 1985. Survivors include sons, Rodney (Kathleen)Webster, Henderson, KY, Randy (Annette) Smith, Olathe; daughter Darla (Stan) Meyers, Topeka; grandchildren, David Webster, Elizabeth Biddle, Tyler Smith, Cameron Smith, Grant Meyers, Claire Meyers; sister, Wilma Ferkol, Topeka; and brother, Glen Deitcher, Topeka.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at First Southern Baptist Church. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Highland Cemetery in Ottawa. Anita will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel after 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday and visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Care Hospice Services, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, Kansas 66606.
