Angelo Anthony Alimia, Sr., 75, Topeka, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2006 at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center.
He was born Jan. 9, 1931 in Gretna, Louisiana, the son of Joseph and Pauline Esther Giardina Alimia. He attended Southeast College, Hammond, LA. He came to Topeka in 1994.
Mr. Alimia owned and operated AAA Air Conditioning & Heating in New Orleans for 40 years, retiring in 1995.
He was a life member of Post #218, American Legion in Gretna, LA, an associate member of World Ministry Fellowship and a member of the Belle Chase, LA Assemblies Of God.
He married Ruth E. Gros on April 7, 1958 in New Orleans. She died in 1987. He married Janet M. Hopkins on July 16, 1994 in New Orleans. She survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Angelo A. Alimia, Jr., Belle Chase, LA, Joseph P. Alimia, Belle Chase, LA, Kevin C. Alimia, Abita Springs, LA; four step-children by Ruth, John A. Dugas, New Orleans, William J. Dugas, New Orleans, Karen G. Savoie, Gretna, LA, Deborah A. Dulcich, Marrero, LA; three step-children by Jan, Beth Smith, Topeka, Scott Biskie, Hays, KS, Jason White, Santa Clara, CA; one brother, Phillip A. Alimia, Marrero, LA; one sister, Eva Palmer, Gretna, LA; 32 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday at Community Church with interment in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery.
Mr. Alimia will have open visitation from noon until 8:00 pm Friday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel.
