Amy Elizabeth (Weinkauf) Thomas, 52, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2024.
She was born November 17, 1971, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Gary and Irene (Ahlers) Weinkauf.
She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she was baptized on December 12, 1971 by Rev. J.G. Jacobson and was confirmed on Palm Sunday, March 23, 1986 by Pastor Staudacher.
She graduated from Topeka High School in 1990. She worked for Stormont-Vail in the dietary department for eight years. This is where she met her future husband, Darin Thomas. They were married in 2005.
Amy and Darin loved their pets, three cats and a dog. They were their children.
Amy enjoyed working with wood, especially carving and wood burning. She enjoyed sharing her work with her family and friends. She and Darin also like to travel and camp out, and visiting historical places.
In 2021, she was diagnosed with cancer and bravely fought it until Saturday, April 6 under hospice care at the family home where she grew up with her two brothers.
Amy is survived by her husband, Darin; her mother, Irene; two brothers, Joseph Weinkauf and Pastor Robert (Jodi) Weinkauf; six nieces and nephews, Ashley, Samantha, Phillip, Daniel, Katlyn (Aaron), and Kaleb; six great-nieces and nephews, Dietrich, Klein, Edel, Rehe, Aries, and Lily.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gary.
Visitation will begin at 9am followed by funeral services at 10 am on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Rochester Cemetery.
