Amy E. Howard, 87, died on June 6 at Brewster Place Health Care Center. Daughter of Earnest and Mary Newberry, Amy was born in Topeka on February 3, 1916. She married Maurice R. Howard of Topeka in 1934. Maurice preceded her in death in 1995.
Surviving family members include her daughter Barbara J. Harlan of Topeka, grandson Brad Newton of Roswell, NM, granddaughter Nancy Wilson of Overland Park, KS, great-grandchildren Garrett and Jenna Wilson of Overland Park, KS, and niece Saundra Ghan of Huntington Beach, CA.
Amy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She attended Topeka schools and was a graduate of Topeka High School. She also attended Clark's Business School. She had a long career in retail clothing sales and was manager/buyer at the Grayce Ready-to-Wear Shop in Topeka for 33 years.
Amy was a member of Grace Episcopal Cathedral. She served as a Girl Scout leader for eight years. She was a member of Topeka Women's Club, Toastmistress Club, Topeka Chamber of Commerce, and the Topeka Camera Club.
A memorial service will be on Wednesday, June 11 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Countryside United Methodist Church, 3221 SW Burlingame Road.
