Alvina Krohe, 91, died Tuesday, April 8, 2008. She was born on July 13, 1916 in Fairview, Kansas, the daughter of Henry and Emma (Lear) Spellmeier.
She graduated from Fairview High School in 1933 and worked for many years as a bookkeeper, first at College Hill Tin Shop and later at West Side Plumbing. Alvina was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Topeka.
She married Lyndon Krohe in Topeka, Kansas on December 2, 1945. He preceded her in death. Survivors include: a son, Gary Krohe, Topeka; a daughter, Janis Krohe, Wichita; a sister, Bernice Welsh, Kansas City; a brother, Emil Spellmeier, Fairview; a grandson, Kevin Krohe, Topeka; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Janel, in 1956; and by a sister, Alice Spellmeier.
Funeral services will be at 10 am Saturday, April 12th at St. John's Lutheran Church, 915 SW Fillmore, Topeka. Burial will immediately follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Alvina will lie in-state at noon Friday, April 11th at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel. Friends may call on the family from 6 – 8 pm Friday evening. Memorials may be given to Midland Hospice, Topeka Lutheran School, or St. John's Lutheran Church.
