Allan O. Sieffert

Allan O. Sieffert, 76, of Topeka, passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2007 at a Topeka hospital. He was born on May 14, 1930 in Ottawa, IL, the son of Oscar A. and Pearl Mottaz Sieffert. He graduated from Ottawa Township High School in 1948. Allan obtained a BA Degree from North Central College School of Social Service Administration in 1953. He attended Macalester College in St. Paul, MN and Evangelical Theological Seminary in 1956. He then obtained a Masters Degree from the University of Chicago in 1960. Allan had resided in Topeka since 1962. He was employed as a Social Worker for the State of Kansas for 30 years before retiring in March of 1992. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the Topeka Big Band where he was the only surviving charter member. Allan married Bertha R. Bartel on June 1, 1963 in Meade, KS. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Jonathan A. Sieffert of Topeka, Christopher A. Sieffert of Dallas, TX, three daughters, Jennifer K. Lockey and husband, Eddie of Plano, TX, Angela R. Sieffert of Dallas, TX, Barbara Hack of Topeka, one granddaughter, Peyton Marie and one twin sister, Aline Claire Sieffert of Ottawa, IL. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Grace United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Allan will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to Topeka Big Band, 2229 S.W.
