Aliceann C. Lane

Aliceann "Alice" Celestine Micklos Lane, 84 of Topeka, KS., passed away Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Countryside Health Center. She lives on in the memories of her family and friends for her strength, warmth, and kindness.

She was born January 18, 1937 in Emmaus, PA. the daughter of John and Mary Meckes Micklos. She was a 1955 high school graduate from Central Catholic High School Allentown, PA. After graduation, she joined the United States Navy in July 1956.

Alice served in the United States Navy for four years as a Hospitalman in the WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service) military naval unit and was stationed at the North Island Naval Air Station in San Diego, CA.

She married Shelvy Thomas "Tom" Lane on May 11, 1962 in San Diego, CA. After Tom's retirement in 1974, Alice and Tom moved to Dodge City, KS. where they raised their family. Alice was a great homemaker and loving mother to her two children. Alice and Tom later divorced.

Alice was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was animal lover and enjoyed painting and writing stories. She was a proud veteran and an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for many years.

Survivors include her children, Anthony (Joyce) and Shelly (Bradley) Ulmer; grandchildren, Andrew (Elizabeth) Ulmer, Ayron Ulmer, Alex (Kelsey) Ulmer, Morgan Lane and Mattie Lane; and her sister, Jane Micklos Arndt of Emmaus, PA. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother John "Jack" Micklos, and sister Martha (Raymond) Micklos Rickert.

A Mass of Christian burial in Alice's honor will be held on Monday, December 27th at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dodge City, KS. with graveside service to follow at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery, Fort Dodge, KS. Military honors will be provided by the Navy Funeral Honors Detail and the American Legion 8th District Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made in Alice's honor to The Kansas Soldiers Home 714 Sheridan, Fort Dodge, KS. 67843.
