ALICE M. (OMAN) SWAN
Alice M. Oman Swan died on December 16, 2007, at the Cherryvale Care Center in Cherryvale, Kansas, after a prolonged illness. She was born July 25, 1922 in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Herbert Carl and Jennie Nelson Youngblom. Mrs. Swan was a graduate of Topeka High School and attended Stricklers' Business College in Topeka. She was employed over 33 years with the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway and retired September 16, 1983. Mrs. Swan was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church and active in its organizations. She was active in International Training of Communications since 1973, member of the Topeka Woman's Club, past president of Santa Fe Woman's Club, the first woman president of the Retired Santa Fe Employees Club and also a member of Topeka Chapter #462 Order of the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Swan was married to Vincent E. Oman of Leonardville, KS, August 15, 1943 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on February 14, 1981. She was married to William M. Swan on June 9, 1990. He preceded her in death on January 3, 2002. Survivors include two sons, Bradley E. Oman and wife Julie, Altamont, KS and Brent D. Oman and wife Twilla, Katy, TX; five grandchildren, Jennifer L. Russell, Jana M. Ingram, Treva R. Smith, Tatum E. Oman and Bryce V. Oman and two great grandchildren, Tatum and Kinslee Ingram. One brother, Raymond Youngblom preceded her in death, and one brother, Howard A. Youngblom, Lindsborg, KS, survives.
Services will be at the Trinity Lutheran Church, on Thursday, December 20, 2007, at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Swan will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Penwell Gabel Mid Town Chapel.
