Alice May Petterson, 76, Topeka, passed away Monday, June 2, 2008, at her home.
Alice was born in Hutchinson, KS on April 30, 1932, the daughter of George and Emma (Hall) Whitney.
She graduated from Hutchinson High School, Class of 1950.
Alice married Bobbie Ford in Hutchinson on Jan. 12, 1951. They were divorced. She later married, Richard Petterson in Topeka on Nov. 24, 1991. He preceded her in death on Oct. 29, 1994.
Alice was a homemaker and worked for Dillon's for 24 years.
Prior to her coming to Topeka on July 3, 1967, Alice resided in Hutchinson, KS for 33 years and Puerto Rico for a year where her 1st daughter, Patti was born.
She was a member of Lowman United Methodist Church and volunteered for Dove Tail Shoppe and Let's Help. She was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed basketball, baseball, football, golf and K-State was her favorite team.
Alice is survived by three daughters: Patti (Wayne) Ebel of Wichita; Jane (Matt) Lundemo of Grove, OK; Shelly Young of Olathe, KS; one son, Thomas (Becky) Ford of Middleburg, FL; one sister: Elaine (Harry) Manges of Manhattan, KS and six grandchildren: Sarah Allyson Edmonds; Amy (Brad) Howard; Branson Lundemo and Jackson and Harrison Young.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Samuel Joseph; great-grandson, Braydon Howard and her brother and sister-in-law, George and Anita Whitney.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 6 at Lowman United Methodist Church, 4000 SW Drury Lane, Topeka, KS. Private inurnment will be at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum (Memorial Park), Hutchinson, KS, Monday, June 9, 2008.
