Alice Mae Peterson, Topeka, passed away on March 4, 2007 at the age of 80.
Alice was born on February 3, 1927 in Yates Center, the only child of Earl and Mary (Gunnells) Brewer. She moved to Topeka with her family in 1942 and graduated from Topeka High in 1945. Alice attended Washburn University in Topeka and married Gerald Peterson on February 23, 1947.
During her working career she was a secretary. She was a charter member at Trinity Presbyterian Church. Alice loved flowers and enjoyed traveling. Alice was also an avid bridge player and collected angels. She always took a special interest in the lives of her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are her loving husband of 60 years, Gerald Peterson, Topeka; son, Brad Peterson and wife, Kris of Salina, and their children Chad of San Jose, CA and Abby also of Salina; daughter, Marla Grier and husband, Brad, and their daughter, Tarin, of South Sioux City, NE; son, Trent Peterson and wife, Mary, and their daughter Sarah, of Houston, TX; and son, Dow Peterson, Topeka.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 9, 2007 at Trinity Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Alice will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel after 2:00 p.m. on Thursday and visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.
