Alice Mae (Clark) Weinkauf passed from this world into Paradise Thursday, December 11, 2014 at home. Alice was born February 28, 1932 to Arron and Marie (Brunner) Clark in Wamego, Kansas. After living in Western Kansas for a few years, the family settled in Topeka. Alice attended Topeka Lutheran School and graduated from Topeka High School in 1950 and Washburn University in 1955 before marrying Robert L. Weinkauf, of Topeka June 19, 1955. As a newlywed, Alice worked at City Home as a secretary. Alice considered her 3 children, John Robert, Suzanne and James her greatest blessings and was a devoted, involved mother. She enjoyed being a den mother for both the Boy and Girl Scouts, and volunteered countless hours at Topeka Lutheran School and Topeka West High School. Alice also spent many happy years serving as a Sunday school teacher and as a member of the L.W.M.L. at St John's, as well as the Topeka High School Alumni Association. She and Robert (Bob), former Chief of Police of Topeka, had a very active role in Topeka serving the community. She was well known for being a talented seamstress and hostess, and enjoyed many years as a member of the "Dazzling Dozen".
Alice is survived by husband Bob Weinkauf; children John Weinkauf and fiancé', Jennifer Frye, Kansas City, daughter Suzanne (Steve) Hoxsie, Shawnee, James (Patricia) Weinkauf, Topeka; grandchildren, Scott Weinkauf, Zack Hoxsie, Olivia Weinkauf; and sister, Luella Foster, Topeka.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 15, 2014 at St John's Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 14, 2014.
