Alice Lillian Northcutt Sheffield, 96, Topeka, died January 12, 2009, at Aldersgate Village.
Alice was born February 19, 1912 in Arco, MN, the daughter of Albert and Alice Spencer and moved to Kansas at age 3 with her family. She attended schools in Emporia and graduated from Emporia High School in 1929.
She married Richard C. Northcutt on May 30, 1930 in Emporia. They moved to Topeka in 1941. He died March 27, 1956. She married Harold E. Sheffield on May 28, 1960. He died April 17, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her three brothers, Raymond Spencer, Clarence Spencer and Walter Spencer and by her four sisters, Julia Norman, Mabel Olson, Mary McAuliffe, and Lilas Jerome. A step-daughter, Irene K. Coyman died March 23, 1996. Alice is survived by son, Raymond E. Northcutt and wife Nancy, Estes Park, CO; daughter, Faye E. Schoenfeld and husband Michael, Topeka; five grandchildren, Robin Shelton and husband, Greg, Strasburg, CO; Eric Northcutt and wife Jenny, Estes Park, CO; Janet Hudkins and husband Rick, Nancy Schoenfeld, and Carol Schoenfeld, all of Topeka; and six grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Private family inurnment will be held at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Good Samaritan Fund at Aldersgate Village, 7220 SW Asbury Drive, Topeka, Kansas 66614.
