Alice L. Lewis, 82, Overbrook, passed away on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at Brookside Retirement Community.
Alice was born February 19, 1930 in Wamego, the daughter of Alfred and Sophia (Kelsey) Swaim.
She worked as a server at Smith Café, Tevis Restaurant, and Holiday Inn Downtown.
Alice married Melvin H. Lewis, Jr. on October 11, 1949 in Harrisonville, AR. He died March 27, 2000. Survivors include sons, Melvin H. Lewis III, Topeka, Ronnie (Janice) Lewis, Lawrence, Roy (Robin) Lewis, Berryton; daughter, Launetta (Don) Finch, Wakarusa; grandchildren, Shawn Gordon, Christopher Lewis, Laura Liu, Alicia Riddle, Erik Finch, Jamie Finch, Ryan Finch; 4 great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Roberta Lewis. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Daniel Lewis.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 9, 2012 at Mount Hope Cemetery. Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Brookside Retirement Community, 700 W. 7th, Overbrook, Kansas 66524.
