Alice J. Thompson, 77, Topeka, died Friday, May 6, 2004 at Topeka Presbyterian Manor.
She was born Oct. 18, 1926 in Hutchinson, the daughter of Huston and Esther Franks Bibb. She graduated from Topeka High School.
Mrs. Thompson worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone company, and later worked for over 20 years for the Ramada Inn, retiring as night auditor.
She had been active as a den mother for Cub Scout Pack 34. She was a member of East Topeka United Methodist Church, and was active in Sunday School activities. She also belonged to WSCS and AARP.
She married Kenneth M. Thompson on Feb. 28, 1954 in Topeka. He died Oct. 22, 1996. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter in May, 1996, and by her brother, Owen Bibb.
Survivors include her daughter, Esther Miller of Rossville, her son, Huston Thompson of Torrence, CA, 5 grandsons, 1 grandson, and a great-grandson.
Services will be 10:00 am Monday at the Garden Chapel at Topeka Cemetery. Mrs. Thompson will lie in state after noon Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 4-5 pm Sunday.
